The sound, the energy,
the songs.

A tribute to Stereophonics

Stars Of Onyx came together in 2023 with a shared ambition: to celebrate the musical range of Stereophonics, from powerful rock and soaring melodies to wistful ballads.

Even before they met, Patrick and Luigi had each had the idea for the band. An advert placed by Patrick brought them together and set things in motion. For Luigi, it was also a chance to keep a promise to Olivier: to play together again after their time in a covers band, where Stereophonics had already been a firm favourite.

Olivier was the natural choice on lead vocals, while Patrick reunited with Gilles, a bass player he had performed with before. After trying out several guitarists, Sébastien completed the line-up on second guitar. Five musicians brought together by longstanding musical friendships and a shared desire to bring these songs to the stage.

Their approach is simple: to stay as faithful as possible to the original arrangements, giving as much care to the subtleties as to the power. Through the Welsh band’s songs, Stars Of Onyx explores the contrasts that run through more than thirty years of music.

The name plays on the sound of Stereophonics, with a tongue-in-cheek nod in the word ‘Stars’. A touch of self-deprecating humour behind a wholehearted tribute.
